CERAMIC ARTIST KENA DUIGNAN
Kena Duignan is a local ceramic artist in Ngaio.
She utilizes black clay, a ‘splash’ of glaze and salvaged natural materials to explore the intricate patterns found in nature. Her sculptural and fragile pieces are individually hand made.
Her artistic creations grow quietly, are somewhat unpredictable, and are deeply connected to the cycles of the seasons.
Hung on cord she has found at the beach, each piece of ceramic ‘seaweed’ creates a shadow on the wall adding another dimension.
Kena aims for her pieces to prompt individuals to pause and reconnect with their natural rhythms. If her work evokes memories of picking up discovered, cherished ‘treasures’ during a walk, she would be pleased.
